Burning Bright: Extraordinary women of KwaZulu Natal, Book launch and Exhibition

Exhibition launch date: 6 August 2009

This Women's Day, a phenomenal cross-section of Kwa-Zulu Natal women will be showcased in the Burning Bright: Extraordinary women of KwaZulu-Natal book launch and exhibition, held at the Kizo Gallery, Durban from August 6th -  27th. The 24 women to be celebrated include 12 iconic crafters from across KwaZulu-Natal as well as 12 extraordinary women from all walks of life featured in the book.

Their backgrounds are diverse. Among them is Anna Cele, a feisty, big-hearted domestic worker; Devi Rajab, newspaper columnist and psychologist; Nozizwe Madlala-Routledge, principled politician; Ntsiki Biyela, South Africa's first black woman wine-maker; Leona Theron, the country's first black woman judge and Peggy-Sue Khumalo, former Miss South Africa and now investment banker. Together, the stories paint a picture of rich, diverse childhood experiences across KwaZulu-Natal.
